Little Rock Shop - Dev Update (June 2026)

The game has been in development since September of last year, and I’m excited to get a chance to share it with everyone! In this developer update, I’ll go over one of the core mechanics of the game: processing your rocks!

Processing Your Rocks

Any rockhound knows the struggle of: “I’ve got all these cool rocks, and I don’t have the space/time to do anything with them”! Thankfully this is an easy fix in our game; with a few clicks, your rocks will go from rough to polished!

Once your rock is polished you can put it in the museum or you can sell it at the shop!

Polishing Multiple Rocks

When you’re polishing rocks, you can of course, just click to polish it one hit at a time. There’s also the option to hold down the click button to continuously polish your rocks. This will pull a group of rocks together, and then polish them at a steady pace.

One thing to watch out for is that your rock might slip out from the polisher and zip away. If you’re lucky, it will just land somewhere you can keep polishing, but the unfortunate ones might tumble away off the edge, and you’ll have to dig them back up from the quarry!

What’s Next

I’m focused on getting the core loop solid so that the game can ship for everyone to play and have a good experience! For now that means lots of art, lots of vfx, and of course making the progression feel satisfying.

The next big milestone internally is to get all of the rock visuals into the game, so that I can add controller support and get started on some of the Steam integrations like achievements and cloud saves.

Thanks

Thanks for following along with the development of this project! I’m so excited for people to get a chance to play a game about rocks and rockhounding!

If you want to follow development, keep an eye on future posts here and on our socials.

And of course, don’t forget to wishlist the game on Steam!!
